Winter hat styles 2022/23

A style staple during winter, hats are so much more than just an accessory to keep flyaway hairs down and your ears warm. In fact, when paired with the right outfit, a winter hat can be the finishing touch to several looks - whether you’re popping into town or have an annual event to go to. There’s lots of different styles to choose from too and here I round up my favourite winter hats for 2022/23.

Berets

Classic, chic and uber sophisticated, the French beret is back with a bang this winter. Plus, whether it’s felt or soft wool, you’re sure to find one to suit your style. I’m loving the muted tones we have on offer as well as more dramatic berets in checked patterns. They look great paired with an oversized overcoat and a belt.

Veils

Okay so a veil might not be a hat, but we are seeing headpieces adorned with veils. Hugely popular at Christmas parties, it can add a gorgeous touch to most outfits and when paired with some sparkles creates a truly head turning look.

Wide-brimmed hats

Fedoras have been centre stage on the runways all over the world and it’s not hard to see why. When paired with boxy blazers and overcoats, they provide a balanced look and almost everyone can make it work. I love beige and brown Fedoras, with golden and amber accents for seasonal glam like no other.

Headbands

Again, this one might not be a hat exactly, but I can’t not include headbands. Ideal for winter daytime glam or classy evening style, headbands are the perfect finishing touch - whatever’s on the agenda. This year, we’re seeing velvet styles with jewels in black, green, and even deep purples. I can’t get enough.

Hooded hats

With this winter set to be harsher than ever before, hooded balaclavas and snoods are coming back in force - not just from a style front but for warmth too. Bright ones look great with monochrome outfits or, for effortless appeal, choose a cream knitted style and let your hat do all the talking.

Bucket

Traditionally popular in the summer, I’m loving the winter versions of bucket hats that we’re seeing in shops. Some of my favourites have to be faux fur styles and even animal print designs. Pair with your cosiest coat, some faux leather leggings, and some chunky boots for minimalist style.

Are you looking for a winter hat yourself? I’d love to help. Feel free to message me or if you’re local pop into my OXO Tower boutique. To stay up to date with all my news, don’t forget to give me a follow-on Instagram too.
