Tip top trends for SS21

It’s a really exciting time for the fashion world - our industry is becoming more sustainable, more diverse and more adaptable than ever before. So let’s dive in and take a look at the Spring/Summer 2021 fashion trends.

Retro Flares

This September, Paris fashion week catwalks were dominated by 70s flares and wide-leg designs. It’s great to see the return of these iconic silhouettes, so reminiscent of a bygone era of free-spiritedness. Classic denim boot cuts and bell-bottoms also featured at Chloé and Balenciaga’s fashion shows, where jeans sat high on the waist and were accessorised with belts. Charlotte Knowles also showcased the loungey kick flare which we predict will become the staple in many of our quarantine wardrobes! The question is, however, do you dare to flare?

House Slippers

Next year heralds the decline of flats, killer stilettos and trainers and the rebirth of shoes such as Birkenstocks and Uggs. Cosy, practical ‘anti-fashion’ shoes are totally on-trend, - outdoor to indoor wearability makes the slip-on shoe a favourite for SS21. In particular, shaggy fur sliders and platforms designed by Molly Goddard in collaboration with Ugg are definitely the height of quarantine style. Some say we should pick style over comfort but why can’t we have both?

Sustainable Stock

Sustainability is currently the industry’s biggest buzzword, with brands thinking more about the circularity of their products. Fashion houses such as Levi are exploring the potential of dead stock denim and second-hand items, whist Dolce & Gabbana is repurposing fabrics from previous seasons. Equally, retailers like Selfridges are offering re-sell and repair services to encourage customers to rethink their consumption. HRH The Prince of Wales recently spoke with Vogue about the need in society for sustainable fashion. There's no doubt that circular fashion is definitely on-trend for the foreseeable future!

The Mask

With face masks becoming the new norm, more and more brands are beginning to put their own spin on them. It looks like coordinated materials and funky patterns were all the rage during fashion month, with brands such as Christian Siriano revealing gorgeous chequered designs. And yet, if your style is more understated and minimalist then fret ye not, the sleek black face mask is also a fashion fav. Do remember that choosing a silk mask will be kinder to the skin and makes for easier breathing while you strut your stuff!

Oversized - Blazers

The 80s inspired oversized blazer seems like another fashion staple for SS21. This ultra-modern look is super versatile and can be dressed up or down.  For an extra chic look, pair with some straight leg trousers or jeans. Whether you’re in the office or WFH, this powerhouse item will make you feel like an absolute boss!

So there we have it - a few memorable trends from September’s fashion month.

We hope you feel as inspired as we do!
