Our take on PPE fashion...

Recent events have definitely caused a shift in the fashion world, but as lockdown eases, and things return to a new normal, we are starting to see the fashion industry spring back to life.

In the meantime, many fashionistas found valuable ways to contribute and used their skills to make and provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline workers and the public. In addition to this, with the Government guidance changing recently, the creation of masks, visors, and other protective-wear has been vital for the world to ease back into normality.

High-end brands such as Saint Laurent, Gucci and Kering (the parent company of Balenciaga), are amongst some of the many that have been making face masks to support the medical professionals who are running low on PPE.

Face masks are evolving already, and they are not just being used as a PPE solution, consumers are now purchasing them with the hope of making a fashion statement too.

With both high street brands, such as PrettyLittleThing, River Island and Boohoo, and high-end couture labels such as SpaceNK, Claire Mischevani getting in on the trend, it is clear that PPE of all shapes and sizes has undoubtedly integrated its way into mainstream culture.

As more businesses are reopening their doors, many professionals, such as hairdressers, are required to wear visors in addition to face masks for extra protection.

As with masks, fashion designers are finding new and inspired ways for their customers to stay protected and stay stylish at the same time.

Deezeen recently wrote an article about New York's Joe Doucet, who has designed a less "uncomfortable and awkward” visor to protect against COVID-19, that could be worn like a pair of sunglasses. There’s no denying that it oozes elegance, check it out.

Whilst working on our wonderful new Summer 2020 Collection, Katherine Elizabeth has also been creating unique and stylish visors like this on-trend, 24k gold-leaf visor.

There are no two ways about it, whatever form of PPE you choose to keep yourself safe and protected, there are plenty of ways you can do so whilst maintaining your style and sophistication.

We love to make every client feel special with a unique creation and bespoke design, so please do contact us to discuss your requirements and we can book you in for a consultation, or visit us in the shop to view the collection
